Sara Hurley CDO confirms new targets for NHS dentistry


The chief dental officer for England, Sara Hurley, has confirmed new targets will come into drive for practices with NHS dental contracts.

From July 1, standard contracting preparations will start, which means practices will likely be requested to hit 100% of exercise.

This follows the easing of the IPC restrictions earlier this 12 months.

On high of this, exercise delivered by Dental Basis Trainees will not be accrued as follow exercise as of 1 July 2022.

The British Dental Affiliation (BDA) say the brand new targets will provide ‘no flexibility’ to struggling practices.

Shawn Charlwood is chair of the affiliation’s Common Dental Apply Committee.
